Thank you! I have been wondering about that too, and looking up this
subject in the archives...Have been puzzling until my puzzler is sore
over certain aspects of Crouch-as-Moody's behavior. Such as:
why *was* C-as-M so insistent on teaching this to the class, and
especially to Harry, and seemingly so pleased that Harry was able to
fight it off---"they'll have trouble controlling *you*!"
Also---why did C-as-M suggest that Harry and Hermione should think
about careers as Aurors?
Does Barty Crouch *still*, in spite of everything, have a shred of
fairness and human decency in himself?
Or---does Polyjuice Potion work in ways so mysterious that taking on
another's outward appearance may allow some of the *real* inward
stuff of the impersonated person to rub off, too (unknown to those
who are familiar with the potion)?
Or---is it just part of the really, really good act that Crouch had
to put on to *be* Moody and even fool Dumbledore for so long?
And of course there is the wonderful scene with Draco Malfoy the
amazing bouncing ferret (LOL)---but that could have been a way for
Crouch to express his annoyance with Lucius Malfoy (thru Draco) for
not being as faithful a DE as Crouch himself was.
Sorry for the long post, I'm a newbie and have not been able to
figure out the answers to these questions. So glad I found this
group!!! Thanks!
