Hi all. :)

I'm just sitting here looking out over the bare forest outside my window
and the thought occurs to me--I wonder what the Forbidden Forest is like
in the daytime? Unless my memory is faulty we've only seen it at night,
when it's quite terrifying. I wonder if it's less dangerous during the
day?  For that matter, I wonder what other kinds of creatures lurk in the
forest. 

And for *that* matter, are there really werewolves in the Forest? I mean,
Draco says there are, and they're mentioned again later on in COS, but
that could be just a rumor. If there *are* werewolves, then a) what's to
prevent them coming out and terrorizing the students-- b) where do they
live during the period when the moon isn't full, and c) why didn't Lupin
just hang out with them when he was a student? Assuming nothing else in
the forest harms the werewolves or preys upon them--what *would* prey on a
werewolf, a giant spider maybe?-- what would keep him from living there
while he's transformed? 

See, now I've gone from enjoying a nice wintery view out the window to
being thoroughly engrossed in yet another HP mystery. Apologies if this
been discussed before--it's only just now occurred to me, and I can't wait
for the feedback! :)
