Once, I was at a convention where Terry Pratchett (author of the Disk
World series) was speaking. Mr. Pratchett suggested that he could never
use ideas that were sent to him or posted by fans of his books, as that
would open him up to possible lawsuits. If someone had a great idea for
a character or plot point, he certainly wouldn't want to steal it from
them, and he encouraged people to use their own creative ideas in
original material.

Mind you, he then went on to say what swell people we all are, but it
only takes one person to make a nasty lawsuit. JKR has something
similar going on right now, I believe, with that lady who published
those activity books, and that looks to be coincidental. Imagine what
it would be like if plot points could be documented to a list by
someone pursuing a lawsuit!

I imagine that if someone related to JKR or the author herself is
posting here, using material from this list might put her in a
difficult situation. While I do not know all the in's and out's of
publishing, I could imagine that using any ideas on this list might
present some difficulties.
