In an interview, JKR did insinuate that there IS something between Ron and 
Hermione, but that Ron, being a "typical boy", doesn't realize it. From 
this, I gather that 1.) Ron is interested in Hermione because he shows 
jealousy when she goes to the dance with Krum (but probably doesn't even 
realize his negative feelings about the situation are because HE would 
rather be taking Hermione to the dance) and 2.) Hermione is not adverse to 
Ron's possible feelings, because she says something to the effect of "Don't 
wait until the last minute to ask me next time" or "Don't ask me as a last 
resort next time" (I forget the correct words).

And JKR, if you ARE a member of our group, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let Snape 
fall in love!!! He's gotta have a heart in there somewhere!!! (big grin)
