Then Megan said:

I don't know, I guess I find it a bit cheesy to have the Weasley
cousin be the spy.

I also would like to add that until about a month before Book 4 came
out, everyone, including the Barnes and Noble near my house was
insisting that the title of Book 4 was Harry Potter and the Doomspell
Tournament. So it seems like the tournament itself changed in some
aspects. So maybe it was not the Tri-Wizard tournament. Maybe the
other schools were not involved? Perhaps this Weasley cousin is
going to compete? (Where would they be from?) Maybe Crouch Jr.
kidnaps and polyjuices this cousin? Then the cousin
would "accidently" in the course of the tournament get Harry to
Voldemort? (This is pretty weak, I know.) But I was always shocked
that Moody, a professional, hex-happy wizard catcher, was easily
subdued by talentless Wormtail, and out-of-practice Crouch Jr. (I
mean face it, the guy was young when arrested, spent draining time in
Azkaban, then went wandless and Imperioused by his dad for the rest
of the time. Not a lot of time to hone your skills as a great
wizard.) So how do these two really get Moody and force him into the
trunk? But a younger wizard? Could happen.

Then Moody would have been the real Moody, and all that fun stuff
like the bouncing of Malfoy, the teaching of the Unforgivables, etc.
would be bona fide. However, for some reason, the Doomspell
Tournament and the cousin don't work out. I have two babies about to
wake up and need to be fed, so I can't really work out much more, but
I know there are some great minds on this site and they could make it
work.
