They weren't allowed to be seen the second time
through those three hours. How could they have made
Lupin take his potion without being seen? They also
weren't supposed to change anything that had already
happened. Dumbledore says something to the effect that
they can't mess around with events they know have
happened because it will effect the outcome in unknown
ways. Thus they cannot be seen or interact with
anyone.
