Crookshanks/Animal Population at Hogwarts

The description of Harry's first sight of Platform 9 3/4:
"Smoke from the engine drifted over the heads of the chattering 
crowd, while cats of every color wound here and there between their 
legs. Owls hooted to one another in a disgruntled sort of way over 
the babble and the scraping of heavy trunks."

There are a LOT of cats and a LOT of owls. Altho' I believe that 
'cats of every color' means only 'of every cat color', rather than 
blue and purple and green cats. (Don't anyone give me an argument 
about blue being a cat color for Russian, Maltese, etc Blues -- their 
color LOOKS silver or pewter even tho' it is named blue.)
