Rita is correct: Revision means to re-examine or read over work that you
have already done, usually in preparation for an exam or test.

"Also, how long is summer vacation in a typical boarding school?  I  get the
impression for Hogwarts it's two months.  Is this normal?"

I believe the school holidays are the same in boarding schools as they are
in all British schools - about 10 weeks.
