Yes, it was confirmed in a chat, plus one of the questions she got 
was something along the lines of "Was James a Gryffindor seeker like 
Harry?"  JKR's reply was that James was a chaser, but she made no 
comment on whether he was Gryff or not.  I take this to mean that 
yes, he was in Gryff.; it probably didn't even occur to her that we 
might wonder otherwise.

There was also the Scholastic quiz, which has apparently been changed 
since the chat, in which one of the questions asked what house Hagrid 
was in and the 'correct' answer was "Hufflepuff"...
