This just kinda popped into my head. There have been ideas thrown 
around as to which house who was in. I personally have always felt the 
Marauders were all in Gryffindor. But I think the fact that Sirius 
knew exactly where to find the Gryffindor common room is pretty strong 
evidence that he was in Gryffindor (the students don't seem to know 
where the other common rooms are). Of course, this is pretty easy to 
shoot down. Perhaps he had a friend that was in Gryffindor, and often 
went back there with him. Or, if nothing else, he IS the co-author of 
the Marauders' Map, so it's probably pretty safe to say he knew the 
school fairly well.
