Well, I must admit it never occurred to me. Fireplaces are for sitting
in front of, on the couch, and my couch doesn't fit into the kitchen.
Actually, in Texas, eleven months out of the year fireplaces are for
holding an attractive array of candles, books, etc.--a little low shelf.
