Achieving the Stone is not a fluke. The processes are intricate and complex and there
is no way it could be an accident. But the study of alchemy is neverending--achieving
the Stone is a by-product of a very advanced alchemist. So, yes, Flamel was
undoubtedly still studying the minutiae of alchemical mysteries when Dumbledore was
working with him.
