I think that sort of thing is just a writing device. Many of these, like
re-introducing the characters and the locations at the beginning of each
book, really annoy me. I mean, if you have read the other books then you
don't need that, and if you haven't then you shouldn't be reading the
sequels. Once or twice I've been known to skip the first chapter in some
series (not HP).
