OT--dialects ("fixin' to")

Shoot, lil' darlin', I just want them to talk so's I kin understand 
'em! Actually, they're not that bad.  Like Amanda, I am a native Texan 
and since moving to Lubbock (I teach in Levelland, which looks just 
like it sounds)from Houston 20 years ago, I have learned a new 
language.  
And no, Hagrid would not be who he is without his dialect.  I applaud 
JKR for using it well--too many authors turn characters with dialect 
into characatures.  JKR has kept Hagrid "real."  The way he talks is 
who he is, not who he pretends to be.  I hope that makes sense.  Still 
need more coffee this morning.
