Or, he was pleased because Harry would then be an even more valuable 
prize.  After all, if Harry were a squib, what would be the fun in 
killing him?  Killing someone who is powerful is much more satisfying. 
And, it will mean Harry will have to fight and probably be in a very 
painful situation.  After all the imperious curse takes all decision 
making away and makes the victim very comfortable.  It's the fighting 
off that hurts.
