My mind may be playing tricks on me, but I *think* someone asked Jo that
very question in a pre-GoF chat or interview. Her response (as I remember
it!) was that Crookshanks isn't. Can anyone back me up on this?

Of course, we all know that not even Jo is entirely accurate about Hogwarts
... ;-)
