Okay, this is all speculation here, but as I was reading the summary
and questions of chapters 18-20 (good job, Monika, BTW), I began to
wonder what D's reaction would have been had Lupin approached him
earlier in the year to tell him about Sirius being an Animagus. I
don't think D would have told Fudge because D is vehemently against
the Dementors (good for him!). That leaves me wondering what D would
have really done. Would he have fired Lupin on the spot? Would he
have questioned Harry about seeing a dog anywhere? Or would he have
simply waited for the big black dog himself and questioned Sirius then
and there?
Dumbledore is not at all the kind of person who acts recklessly or
makes rash decisions. I'm not so sure that things would have turned
out so differently if Lupin told D about their Marauding days. In
fact, I think D would have handled it quite well, as he did later when
he spoke to Sirius. Of course, much of this is hindsight and I know
how well Dumbledore responds to things. What do you think?
