If this has been re-discussed a zillion times already, please might
somebody be so kind as to point out the respective messages to me.
Otherwise, I'd just like to get things a bit clearer about the
beginning of PS:

It is about 8 or 9 in the morning when Vernon Dursley goes to work
without noticing all the strange people, owls etc. The cat/Mc
Gonagall is already sitting on the stone wall where it stays till
late at night (all windows are dark, so it must be at least 11p.m.)
when Dumbledore arrives, and shortly after him Hagrid on the
motorbike, carrying Harry.

Which means that the Potter killing + fall of Voldemort must have
happened before 8 a.m. of this day.

So far, so good.

Hagrid, when he comes along with Harry, tells Dumbledore and
McGonagall that he got into the Potters' destroyed house just before
the Muggles arrived, snatched Harry, had a brief discussion with
Sirius, took the baby and went to meet Dumbledore in Privet Drive.

Knowing that magic may go along with bomb-like blasts, and knowing
also that the Potters' house was in ruins, it can't have taken the
Muggles (villagers and police) much time to arrive at the crime scene.

So, Hagrid must have got there within 30 minutes from the murder or,
as Godric's Hollow isn't a big place and police probably had to be
called from the next town, let's give him maximum one hour.

Which leads to the logical question: Who informed Dumbledore? and how
did he/she do it? Owl post takes writing and some time till the owl
arrives- a journey that the Hogwarts Express needs 7 hours to make!
If it isn't a turbo-booster ultrasonic owl, 7 hours would be the
least. Apparating is excluded, maybe you could make it on a Nimbus
2000 within an hour?

Remains the question: Who was the person that was already there or
arrived immediately after the tragedy and informed Dumbledore?
Pettigrew? Maybe he was there, as he is also supposed to be the one
who took V's robes and wand. But would he have had an owl with him?
Parchment? Quill? Ink? MOST unlikely. And why would he have informed
Dumbledore when his only thought probably was to run for it? I also
think he would have mentioned it to Harry in PoA.

Anyway, there is still the schedule problem:

7a.m. Potter killing
7.30a.m. Hagrid arrives
7.35a.m. Sirius arrives
7.40a.m. both leave
7.45a.m. police arrives

11p.m. Dumbledore, McGonagall and Hagrid meet at Privet Drive

So what happened in the 15 hours we know nothing about? It doesn't
sound as if Hagrid didn't fly *directly* to Privet Drive after taking
the baby.

I'm very curious to read your opinions!!

Susanna (hoping that it doesn't all sound completely stupid, now it's
come out of her head)
