How about he hikes them up to his hips and reveals a pair of black
jeans he probably liberated from some clothesline somewhere?

Yes. The quidditch robes are open from the waist down to allow the
players to make those crazy motions they have to make.
I take this as canon based on every HP statue, doll, poster, image,
book illustration, and officially licensed item I've ever seen has
the robes allowing them to wear normal clothes beneath the robes, and
the robes are mainly ornamental and to identify a wizard as a wizard.
