Well, no one told me about the books and I hadn't heard anything about
them. I just like to wander around the children's book section in
B&N, and there was a big HP display that I kept eyeing. I even asked
someone who worked there if the books were really that popular. She
all but laughed in my face.
Upon reading the back of SS I was intrigued but felt a bit stupid
about buying it. A week later I said "the hell with it", bought SS,
read it that night and devoured CoS and PoA the following two weekends
(each in several hours). I couldn't sleep the night before GoF was
released.
I knew I adored Harry when he immediately talked back to Dudley, and I
knew I was hooked for good when Dumbledore told Harry he had eaten a
vomit flavored Bertie Botts Every Flavor Bean (I laughed out loud,
sitting all alone on my couch). Sometimes I even worry myself at how
often I think about and talk about the books.
It took me a while to find HPFGU, and I browsed around some sites that
were clearly for younger people, which was frustrating. Once I got
the hang of HPFGU (I'm not good with computers or the internet), I
began logging on several times a day. This site keeps me believing
that even if I am crazy when it comes to HP, I am certainly not the
only one.
