I'm not so sure how loyal they are. Take Crouch. I'm starting to
wonder if he wasn't engaging in some double-dealing. Consider:
He knew V wanted to be the one to finish Harry off, so there would
be no doubt of his supremacy. Yet, Crouch was on the verge of
killing Harry humself until D, McG, and S burst in. Why? I think
he may have wanted to prove that he was better than V because
*he* killed Harry Potter, then the DE's would grovel at *his*
feet!
The only stumbling block I see to my theory: If he was out
to undermine V, wouldn't he have admitted to it under the
veritaserum? Still, something to think about...
