============
1. We know that Dementors can be driven away. Do you think they can
they be destroyed? How?
This is very interesting, you know what it reminds me of? Michael
ende's "Never ending Story" (not the horrible film, the wonderful
book): The Emperess of fantasia Does never judge the creatures living
in her enormous realm. She just accepts them, whether they are good
or evil, because their existence certainly has some sense. IMO,
things might be quite similar with wizards and dark/magical
creatures: Wizards would not extinguish or destroy them, be they
unicorns or hinkypunks, centaurs or dementors. They have their raison
d'être and therefore you may defend yourself against them, drive them
away, maybe even kill them in self-defence, but wizards would never
attempt to erase a whole species.
2. Why can't Muggles see Dementors (but can see dragons, for
instance)?
They are not of flesh and blood, are they? (But then, what are they
of- tricky question!) OK, I don't know- but would like to!!
3. When was the alliance with MoM formed? Did Fudge initiate it?
Under what circumstances? Why would the Dementors enter such an
alliance - i.e., what's in it for them?
Why would anybody enter public service? Because you get little, but
guaranteed and on a regular basis. It seems that Dementors, when not
"domesticated", from time to time might have a bit of trouble getting
enough to "eat". Now, first with voldemort and then with the MoM,
they were assured regular meals. I think that's it.
MY OWN QUESTION: How many dementors are there? Are they all in
Azkaban?
5. Do you think any crime deserves such a punishment - being forced
into clinical depression?
No, because the inly real punishment for abominable crimes is
recognizing them and feeling guilty. The dementors' victims are not
given this possibility, bceause they lose every notion of themselkves
and go mad.
6. How were wizards punished before the Dementors became the jail
keepers? Is it possible to imprison a wizard who has his full powers?
I imagine some kind of excommunication, another nice trick the
Catholc Church has taught us ;( . Maybe your wand was destroyed, a
memory spell put on you and some sort of Cain's mark impressed on you
so that everybody would shun you.
7. Other questions regarding Dementors: What do they look like
underneath the cloak? They have hands, so presumably they have
bodies. How is that body maintained? (do they breath? Eat?
Propagate?) Are they sexual <double shudder>? Do they have voices? Do
they speak? How do they communicate with humans (e.g., Fudge)?
8. Rhetorical question: What is JKR favorite kind of sweet?
Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans- or did I miss something;) ?
