Does it annoy anyone else slightly that Gryffindor is *such* a
prominent house in the canon? Most of the main characters are in this
house - the Trio (of course), all of the Weasleys, Dumbledore,
Hagrid, and the assumption is that the Marauders and Lily were (I
just know I'm going to be nitpicked for writing that... <g>). JKR
once said in a chat, IIRC, that she would be in Gryffindor, so it's
fairly clear she favours that house.
Personally it irritates me that Gryffindor House is favoured above
the rest in the canon, especially in the case of Hagrid. I don't see
Hagrid as being a Gryffindor - he is, IMO, much more of a Hufflepuff
personality: hard working and loyal. Hagrid and Gryffindor just don't
match up for me, and I don't really like it that JKR is putting a lot
of the 'heroes' into the one house, just because that house is
the 'best'. It's as if, to be good and heroic, you must be a
Gryffindor. Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs clearly aren't fit to save the
world. And Slytherins... well, they're just evil, aren't they?
*gasps* Something I *don't* like about the HP series?! I'm going to
end my rant here and wash my mouth out with soap!
