The difference is that Dudley has most likely always been the biggest and
nastiest, right from the first day of school, and established himself well
and truly as top dog....the smaller kids would have aligned themselves with
him to avoid being hurt. By the time we meet Dudley again, he is well and
truly established.

Quite different for a kid who becomes fat in a school where the established
leaders are not...safe to ridicule fat people. I bet noone calls anyone
'fatty' in front of Dudley!
