This is getting a litte OT perhaps...

Ingenuous speculation that Hogsmeade might have coem from provison of 
mad (the drink) though a conventional explenation woud give -mede as 
coming from 'meadow'. On the other hand doesnt sound as if the 
village is associated with meadowland?

Edis (who lives close to a town which chnged itsn ame to Woburn Sands 
when the railways came. The rail company  didn't want a station 
called Hogsty End).
