Yes Amy, I find this to be true. I always enjoy the students more who are articulate and speak up about what they want.Madam Pince seems forbidding however. But if you will remember Harry has been at times in the library when he really shouldn't have been. She seems to enforce rules.

  librarian, however.  The poor woman doesn't really get to strut her 
  stuff, since Harry never asks her for help.

  I bet Hermione has a great relationship with her.  I hold firmly to 
  the belief that librarians love patrons who ask for help finding 
  things:  the more esoteric, the better.  Am I right?
