Okay, I think Dumbledore really *did* see socks. If you'll notice, 
they do kind of play a minor role in the HP books... They set House 
Elves free. And, well, if Dumbledore said that he saw himself with a 
pair of thick socks (I think that's what he said) then that's 
probably what he saw. 

JKR said that the Sorting Hat is more mysterious than we think. So, 
I'm keeping my eyes open, and enjoying the ride. All these Flints' 
are crazy. Really, maybe the first one *was* a mistake, but all the 
ones everyone's coming up with! I don't think they're *that* unaware 
when they're re-reading and editing. Look through other series, do 
you see many mistakes? Probably not. Hence, they might have a 
meaning. Just a thought, though.
