I think someone asked JKR about whether Harry would end up being
related to Voldie in an interview. She laughed and said no, "That
would be awfully Star Wars, don't you think?" (Yes, I am quoting from
memory again... watch out!)
I seem to remember her also saying that so far nobody has even come
close to guessing her ending, though that could be a red herring.
*smile*
For myself, I hope that JKR avoids anything that will be too deus ex
machina or plot driven. No more polyjuice and no more unregistered
animagi!! The more she gets inside her characters and their emotions
and WHY things have evolved the way they have, the happier I am. What
I hope for most (well besides a nice cheesecake scene with Sirius,
heheheheh...) is a more in depth and complex picture of Voldie.
Although he is a completely repulsive and black and white villian, I
suspect that there is something lurking in the soul of young Tom
Riddle which might make him more tragic and more interesting.
Soemthing has to be driving him which is more complex than the Evil
Overlord syndrome. I want a closer look at it.
I don't think he is going to suddenly turn into a relative, but I
think there will be something which will make his ultimate demise
more emotionally complex, less certain, not so "tied up with string".
My two bits,
