I have read all 4 books, both the American versions and the British
(real) versions. I decided to purchase the "Hary Potter and the
Bible" book to read for amusement. So far I have read 1/2 of it. I
made it through the HP book summaries and the in depth discussion of
them. I think I only laughed really hard once or twice.
The main arguement that Richard Abanes has so far is that there is no
definitive "Good vs Evil". He says it is "Really Evil (Voldie and
co) vs Lesser Evil (Harry and co)". He goes on and on about Wicca
and Witchcraft and Occultism and Satanism and how it runs rampant
throught the books. Apparently, all the things that Harry and
company do, the lying and cheating and stealing are all sins. Ok, if
you go by the bible, they aren't really good .... but I'd challenge
My. Abanes to show me where in his entire life he hasn't told a lie,
no matter how small, gotten assistance on something he was supposed
to do by himself, or taken something without permission.
I am really enjoying this book. As a person who does not subscribe
to major religions, because they profess to be the ONLY way and well,
let's face it, a good majority of people really involved with most
major religions are quite hypocritical of their "faith", I am
enjoying the book. It brings a fresh prospective on to why I don't
belong to any major (read: socially acceptable) religious group.
Now, I do have a point in posting this ... has anyone else read this
book? If so, I would like to hear other peoples views on the things
Abanes says.
Now mind I haven't finished reading it yet, give me another hour or
so, but tell me what you guys think. I know someone said he was on
here a while back, more than likely spouting all the stuff he has
written in the book, but I'm not the morality/ethics/censorship
police, so hey, preach on brother, don't let it bother you that you
are a moron. Ooops .. did I type thatout loud?
Seriously, I believe this to be on topic ... if I am wrong, I blame
it all on the occultism that I have been subjected to by reading HP
books. It's a Confundus Charm for sure.
Let me know what you all think regarding the Religious Right and HP.
Michelle :)
