Hi there everyone!
I want to humbly, plaintively, and sincerely beg all who are
concerned to please consider taking the Harry Potter and the Bible
discussion off the list.
We have been through this topic before, and a lot of people said
things they regretted later, and many, many feelings were hurt. I
just don't think it is a productive conversation. I certainly don't
want to step on anyone's toes or to assume the position of censor,
but I simply can't watch this happen again without speaking up. I
lvoe this group, and I want to protect its wonderful energy. I don't
want to see people getting hurt again.
No religion has a corner on hypocrisy or empty-headedness-- or
decency or morality. We all have thoughts and feelings about religion
and faith (and experiences to draw upon, and reasons for our
decisions), but I don't think that this is the place for such
discussions. Once you get into a "This is my experience of
Christians" or "This was my experience of Pagans" people are bound to
feel that their religion is being scorned or that they are being
labelled, and this is where the flame-wars and hurt feelings start.
I hope I do not sound "high-horsey" in posting this, and I hope that
we can come to an agreement that all will be happy with. Please
understand that I am speaking out in the spirit of protecting a forum
I have come to care about. I hope I have not offended anyone.
