*gets all excited because she thinks she found a Flint*
OK, in CoS, during the time when the students are being accompanied
everywhere by the teachers, Snape takes the Gryffindors/Hufflepuffs
down to the the greenhouses for Herbology. That's all well and good,
as they just had Potions. But *after* Herbology, Snape is there again
to take them to DADA. (Ch 15, p199 in the Aust ed) Why? Why didn't
Professor Sprout take them or Lockhart pick them up? I don't think
Snape would have hung around for the Herbology lesson. For one thing,
that's not a very Snape-ish thing to do, is it? For another, the
quote '...when Snape had seen them out of the castle, and they were
making their way across the vegetable patch...' (p199 again) implies
to me that Snape didn't take them all the way out to the greenhouse
but just booted them out the front door (*much* more in character!)
and hurried off to his favorite pastime of preserving slimy green
things in jars.
I've always wanted a Flint all my own...have I finally found one???
