Hi Everyone

Your friendly list elf Shelly just thought that she's remind everybody,
especially newbies, that since this is an EXTREMELY high volume list, it
might be a really good idea - in fact I KNOW it IS a good idea not to
include any more of a post you reply to than absolutely necessary. I
would even go so far to say that unless there's canon within the post
you're replying to, it's just fine to summarize the other person's
thoughts.

If not, it's easy to edit. Just move your cursor to the parts of the
message that you AREN'T replying directly to, press your ever-handy
little shift button and the arrow key that points in the direction of
the material you want to delete. That HIGHLIGHTS the area you want to
delete. Then hit delete. That's simple, isn't it ? And it's even easier
if you can get the mouse to highlight for you.

And it is soooo frustrating to have to scroll through an old message to
get to somebody's new thoughts which are very handily added at the
bottom. So, if you can't or won't edit, would you please help cut down
on HP fandom's risk of RSI by at least putting your thoughts at the
start of a reply !!

Then we won't be downloading 10 KB's worth of mail just for two or three
lines of comment.

Just think of someone who chooses the digest option and of how
overwhelmed they must feel if they get a huge digest, just to discover
that most of it is full of messages made up of previous posts. And then
look at the message you're composing and hit the delete button !!!

Your friendly list elf, Shelly
