Quirrell in SS/PS

   Hello,

  In SS/PS, when Harry first goes to the Leaky Cauldron, Professor Quirrell
shakes his hand but at the end of the book Quirrell/Voldemort is unable to
touch him.  Is this because Voldie was not with Quirrell at the beginning or
because he was trying to harm Harry at the end of the book, but could touch
him when he was not attempting to harm him?   Any thoughts?
