When I was a kid, I was told I needed to wear glasses. I was pretty
upset by this, as my mother would only buy me these big old plastic
frames that were very unfashionable. I got picked on enough as a
child, so I just never wore them and now my vision, while it is still
correctable to 20/20 in both eyes, really sucks.

I wonder if kids these days have to worry about the image of being a
geek for wearing glasses. When I had to get mine, I didn't have a
cool role model, fictional or otherwise, that wore glasses that I
could say, hey I'm cool like <insert name here>.

Kids forced to get glasses today could say, "Hey, my glasses look
like Harry Potter's."

If look at the big picture ... I think Harry is helping us in ways we
never really even think about. By being a cool kid with glasses, he
is helping the vision of the younger generations.

Or it could just be me :)

me) :)
