Here's something that's been bothering me since I read GoF, and now
after
rereading it a few times, I've been compelled to come out of lurkdom
for a
moment. Apologies if this has been already touched on....
Okay, I'm quoting the british hardcover here:
Moody/Crouch says in chapter 35, "Veritaserum", p.588:
"You had an easier time of it than you should have done in that maze
tonight,
of course".."That was because I was patrolling around it, able to see
through
the outer hedges, able to curse many obastacles out of your way. I
stunned
Fleur Delacour as she passed. I put the Imperious curse on Krum, so
that he
would finish Diggory, and leave your path to the Cup clear."
So, question: Wouldn't the spectators of the third task have noticed
that Moody
was doing these things? I am of course assuming that the spectators
could see
inside the maze. They were, after all, on the bleachers used for the
quidditch
matches, and were thus raised off the ground quite a bit - certainly
enough to
see over the twenty foot hedges. If the spectators couldn't see inside
the
maze, then the event(watching hedges grow) was very dull indeed.
Any thoughts?
