It does seem reasonable, and maybe reason will one day penetrate the bastions of our academic institutions where sport is concerned. I don't recall people being encouraged to give up playing for school or college teams just because they had a few career-defining exams. At Oxford we had the phenomenon called the 'Rowing Third', i.e. a poor degree due to four or five afternoons a week spent on the river in the weeks running up to finals.
Hogwarts may be an exception - Minerva McGonagall would surely try to make it so - but so far I don't see it. Flint was playing even when doing retakes.
