My reply:

My initial thought was 'No way'...but...

Harry is King Arthur.  Simple.

Voldie is Uther Pendragon - consumed by lust for Lily who is 
Igraine.  Igraine's hubby is the Duke of Cornwall (James).  Merlin 
(Dumbledore - hey, most people *believe* that he's a good guy, but 
who's to say he's not ?) gives Voldie polyjuice so he looks like 
James.  Has his way with Lily and the result is Harry.  Dumbledore 
takes Harry (eventually) and has him raised by the Dursleys - who 
don't know the beginning of the saga...

Hermione could be Morgan la Fay.  Someone dashing could be Lancelot 
(Sirius perhaps). I better stop now.

Okay, now it may be a little far fetched, but it's more interesting 
than a Star Wars comparison. And at least it's set in Britian.  It 
could be a fantastic basis for a fanfic.
