Whatever Snape is doing for Dumbledore (I, personally, infer him to be
going back to Voldemort as a supposed loyal Death Eater), we can infer
the first stage went well:  Snape left Harry's hospital room pale &
shaky from which I infer he was headed off to start his task at that
moment.  We also know he attended the year-end banquet which was about
a week later.  Since Harry couldn't see through him, we know he had
lived to that time.
