I imagine that Hermione has quite a collection of arcane spells
memorized, spells that no one else learned and that maybe most
wizards consider silly and useless (bluebell flames, for example).
She obsesses on things like, well, like some people I know, and so
she learns everything she can about a subject, reads everything, even
discusses the tiniest of details with Percy, the only other obsessive
one around (except Wood, I suppose, but anyway...)
She not only has these spells memorized, she also thinks of original
and clever ways to make them useful. That's the sign of creative
genius about her.
