Forbidden Forest Visits

Well, I went back through my HP copies searching for
all the FF references in the first two books. (I did
this at work, actually stealing my co-worker's copy of
COS that I had just *given* her as a farewell present.
[sigh] She thinks I'm a lunatic.)  I did indeed miss
one FF visit in PS/SS. [hangs head in shame] But they
still don't quite correspond with Mr. Weasley's
statement.

First Visit - Harry follows Snape into the FF after
the Quiddich game to overhear the infamous Quirrel
conversation.  (PS/SS)

Second Visit - Harry is sent to the FF for detention.
(PS/SS)

Third Visit - Harry and Ron follow the trail of
spiders into the FF. (COS)

1.) Would Mr. Weasley necessarily even *know* of this
visit?  Harry only told Ron and Hermione - did Ron
just happen to mention over the supper table during
the summer that Harry had followed a teacher into the
FF and spied on a conversation?  I suppose it's
possible, though I don't see that as entirely likely. 
Anyway, chalk this up as Harry Visit #1.

2.) As someone mentioned before, Harry didn't just
"wander" into the FF in this case, as Mr. Weasley
said.  He was there on official Hogwarts business
(detention), with adult supervision.  I don't think
this should be counted under Arthur's statement. 
But...possible Harry Visit #2, with special
circumstances.

3.) Well this one certainly counts.  Ron and Harry
definitely wandered into the FF alone this time.  So
we have Harry Visit #3 and Ron Visit #1.

Grand Total = 4 FF visits between them.  1 removed
because of special circumstances, which leaves us with
three visits total, on two occasions.  There.  Now as
long as Ron really *does* like to talk about all the
things Harry does around the supper table, we're all
set. ;)

BTW, I remember a few people mentioning that the
Whomping Willow was in the FF.  I went back and looked
it up.  In COS Chapter 5 "The Whomping Willow", the
car's route over Hogwarts is described as missing the
dark stone walls by inches, soaring over dark
greenhouses, the vegetable patch, and black lawns. 
Seems pretty clear that this is *not* in the FF, but
rather on the Hogwarts grounds proper.
