.....Just imagine what the explosion must have been like at the M.O.M. the day young Barty Crouch was brought in with the Lastranges, and the Auror Frank Longbottom and his wife taken to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies. It must have been sheer chaos....
Was there a grandfather clock with golden hands in the Crouch's house? We will never know. But if one stood there, the best bet is that Barty Crouch senior never bothered with it. For surely the golden hand with his son's name would have sung between "lost" and "in mortal peril" many times before it at last came to rest on "in prison"....
