The 'special fan' statement has been used to explain the deaths of everyone
from Dumbledore to Colin Creevey.  I myself think it was a sarcastic
meaning.  Think about it, special fan could also be an enemey.  That would
also be a bit of an impact.  Such a thing as taking out one of Harry's
enemy's would be unsettling to both sides, proving no one's safe with
Voldemort alive.

While this theory hold no water beyond that, it is understandable that
anyone could be dead in book five, not just those on the side of good.
