--Perhaps it is just me but now I'm *really* confused.

On page *134* of the british paperback version of PS-
"And now there were only three people left to be sorted. 'Turpin, 
Lisa' became a Ravenclaw and then it was Ron's turn. He was pale 
green by now. Harry crossed his fingers under the table and a second 
later the hat had shourted, 'GRYFFINDOR!'"

On page 122 of the american hardback version of SS-
"And now there were only three people left to be sorted. "Thomas, 
Dean," a Black boy even taller than Ron, joined Harry at the 
Gryffindor table. "Turpin, Lisa," became a Ravenclawand then it was 
Ron's turn. He was pale green by now. Harry crossed his fingers under 
the table and a second later the hat shouted, "GRYFFINDOR!""

Maybe this is what you were trying to say, and I think it is, but I'm 
just a little confused. So to clear up the confusion which was most 
likely only on my part, Dean Thomas isn't sorted *at all* in the 
british editions.
