[HPforGrownups] Why Harry couldn't live with Sirius (and a few other questions)

Not really. His first instinct (and he is in shock, as you say) is
to take Harry but when Hagrid says no, Black's next instinct is to
think "Right then, I'm going to hunt down Pettigrew and kill him. It
will probably cost me my life and my bike should go to someone I can
trust." Black is a very emotional guy at the best of times and this
was definitely NOT even close to the best of times.
I'm still a little foggy on the actual time chronology of that day
that the Potters died and who did what when. Anyone want to put it together.
