  And we all remember how well spellotape worked on Ron's broken wand.  I just reread CoS and it left me wondering why Ron's broken, spellotaped wand is always backfiring, yet Hagrid's supposedly fractured wand seems to work through his umbrella just fine...though he did have a little trouble when he tried to turn dudley into a pig.
