Um, I'd agree with that. Depression can suck every last happy thought out 
of you. People generally consider suicide just because they have the 
absolute lack of happiness and any sense that future happiness is possible. 
That's how suicide can seem like "a good idea".

I think Sirius lived through sheer determination -- he knew that Peter was 
still out there and would do bad things. It's not a happy thought. :P
