I think Lockhart was just blowing smoke up our robes, as usual.  Even though
he may have witnessed others performing some of the feats that he later
claimed as his own in his books, I don't think he had the slightest clue
about any of them. I think his credibility is quite lacking, even to the
point where he probably made up a good portion of his material in his books.

Doreen, who never liked Lockhart because he reminds her of her ex-husband
