Hello everyone,

I've been reading this list for a week now and want to say how
pleasant and thoughtful you all are! Great comments and questions!
I appreciate the subject tags, too, as I am highly allergic to filk
and fanfic.;)

Peg Kerr's essays are outstanding and I hope she can return to
regular postings. I'll be ordering The Wild Swans soon.

I'm curious about your speculation on the topic of Crouch-Moody as
DADA teacher. I don't have book 4 with me at the moment [it's loaned
out making another fan], but it seems to me that throughout the school
year Crouch-as-Moody went out of his way to be kind and interested in
Harry during all their interactions [prior to the third task!]. C-as-M
could have ensured Harry won the Triwizard cup without being nice to
him.It just doesn't make sense to me...Any thoughts on this? or did I
misread?

Secondly, [and this _is_ someone else's idea, but I can't find it or
any responses] what if Snape's task were to go back to Voldemort as
Barty Crouch Jr.? Is there any way Lord V could know that Barty has
been "kissed"? Snape could brew up some Polyjuice Potion, and return
to Lord V as his most faithful lieutenant, rather than his own
disgraced self..

If these have been discussed in detail please feel free to let me
know, but give me a hint as to what to search for, as I have already
done some searches without success.

As for the person who said that "kill the spare" was the most
horrific sentence yet--I agree entirely, especially when you think of
the resonances this must have in the UK, where princes William and
Harry were regularly known as "the heir and the spare" [this was back
in the Princess Diana days].
