I dunno about the Nagini thing. In response to another message, Nagini
was certainly not twenty feet long... more like seven or nine feet.
JKR seemed to make somewhat of a miscalculation with lengths with the
basilisk- she mentions something about the skin of the basilisk in
CoS- "the creature that had shed it must have been twenty feet long."
Wasn't sure if there was an 'at least' somewhere in that sentence, but
twenty feet isn't long enough for a serpent of the size that was
described later on... it's like a telephone pole length, maybe a
little more, and a serpent that long can only be so wide. The
anacondas and pythons reach that sort of length, and when you imagine
basilisk you imagine something much, much bigger in diameter and
length than an anaconda.

But I digress. It is remotely possible that Nagini could be some sort
of Nagah, able to shift between a half-serpent and complete serpent
state, maybe even human form, but considering her behavior so far, it
seems like she is a normal serpent. You never know, however.
