Wow, Milz!!

That offers a *very* interesting explanation of the "ancient magic" that
protects Harry from Voldy. What if Dumbledore's ancient magic consists in an
amplification of the connection created by Harry's scar, creating a symmetry
between Harry's and Volfy's strength and freedom. Thus, whenever Harry is
held in bondage, the Dark Lord is also bound (at least in regard to Harry).
Perhaps Dumbledore placed Harry with the Dursely's precisely because he knew
they would mistreat Harry--and hence protect him from the big V.

I do see some potential problems with this hypothesis, but it does sound
like the kind of thing Jo would cook up. Any thoughts, folks?

Oh--and incidentally: granting the above, I wonder what would happen to
Voldy if Harry were brutally murdered ...
